Meet Helen Lyon – interior designer
On Saturday March 11th, Sharon Leon is hosting a special event where visitors to our Showroom can have a one-to-one meeting with one of the Highlands leading interior designers. There’s no obligation to purchase and the event is open to everyone, so it’s a great opportunity to discuss ideas with a professional, and browse our extensive range of floorings while you’re here!
Now happily installed in Dornoch with a business serving private and commercial clients, Helen Lyon moved to the Highlands 10 years ago. Originally from North Wales, she took a degree in graphic design at Liverpool Polytechnic, took a sidestep into interior design, and found her calling. Sharon Leon, of course, is a go-to supplier.
Clients across the Highlands
In her showroom, Helen keeps a large stock of up to date fabric, flooring and colour books for clients to consult. If people are just looking for a new wallpaper, fabric or carpet, Helen encourages them to think about other design elements.
“No two projects are ever the same,” says Helen. “We have a number of large holiday homes in the area that are mainly occupied during the summer so winter months are often spent upgrading/refurbishing these properties.”
Helen chooses all the lighting, wallpaper, fabrics, flooring and paint – and works with her network of trusted local tradesmen to agree strategies for achieving the desired result. “If I have questions, I ask the builders – they know what can and can’t be done!”
Accessible interior design for everyone
“Being approachable and welcoming is important,” Helen says. “Lots of people think interior design is elitist and expensive, but that’s not always the case, most people realise they’ve got a bit of interior design in them, and just need the confidence to start putting colours together.”
